Despite the advances in technology very little is known about life beneath the waves where the continental shelf falls away into the abyss some hundred miles or so off Ireland. Simon and Joanne are trying to change that and in the process engage a new generation of young scientists.
This short film shows some of what they all see aboard the Celtic Explorer during a week long voyage in the autumn of 2014. Work is ongoing on the full documentary 'Where The Blue Whales Roam'.
